The University of South Africa (Unisa) has revealed when prospective students can register online for the 2024 academic year. The announcement applies to students wanting to confirm their registration in all levels of academic programmes at the country’s largest universities.
All Unisa registrations for the 2024 academic year will open on 10 January 2024. This applies to students registering for semester or year models.
“Online registration for 2024 for all undergraduate, honours, postgraduate diplomas and M&D qualifications will open on 10 January 2024.”
While registration for all programmes opens on the same, the registration closing date will depend on whether it is a year or semester module.
Unisa uses an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) education model which sees students learn and participate in examinations online.
Prospective Unisa students can check online for the status of their application and registration. They can login to their Unisa account to confirm the details.

How Unisa Applications Work
New applicants and existing Unisa students who applied for admission to a new qualification may only register if they received a placement offer from the university.
“Unisa reserves the right to not process and/or cancel your registration if it is found that you were incorrectly admitted to a qualification.”
Re-registering students are required to register during the stipulated application period. Failure to register during the specified timeframe may result in complications for returning students.
If you are already registered and would like to add additional modules, login to myUnisa, choose the admin link, click on “Student Admin” and then on “Register Additional Modules”.
The university provides all registered students with a free myLife email address on the
portal. It is your responsibility to activate your myLife e-mail account as soon as your registration has been finalised.
Your myLife email account will be the only e-mail account recognised by Unisa for official correspondence to and from the university, and will remain the official primary email address on record at Unisa.
