The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides individuals with a social grant to help pay for monthly essentials. Sassa introduced the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to help those who are unemployed and not receiving any other form of social assistance.
Applicants of the SRD grant are welcome to track the progress of their application.Tracking one’s application can be done in a number of ways.

How To Check Your Status Online
- Visit the Sassa SRD grant website.
- Scroll down to ‘Application status’.
- Select ‘Click here to check online’.
- Fill in the required fields.
- You should then be able to see the status of your R350 grant application.
How To Check Your Status On Phone
- Call 0800 60 10 11.
- Follow the prompts.
How To Check Your Status On WhatsApp
- Add 082 046 8553 to your phone.
- Send a message to that number.
- Follow the instructions.
In some cases, the application status may be unavailable. However, Sassa reminds applicants that their system is processing millions of applications so it may take some time before their application status is available.
Sassa SRD grant applications are treated as new applications each month. However, each applicant will only need to apply once for their application to be considered each month.
