More than 25 million people will be paid social grants from Sassa during the month of January. Here’s when all Sassa grants will be paid during the first month of 2024.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) disburses more than 19 million permanent grants to vulnerable people living in South Africa every month. With January fast approaching, Sassa has confirmed the grant payment dates.
Sassa grants play a pivotal role in providing support to vulnerable individuals and families in South Africa through the distribution of grants. Grants assist families to afford basic goods and services.
Their grants include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
While Sassa endeavours to pay grants from the second day of the month, this is not possible in January 2024. Grants will therefore be paid from the third day of the new year.

SRD Grant Payment Dates for January
SRD grants will be paid to beneficiaries from 25 January to 31 January. During the payment week, Sassa encourages beneficiaries to check their Sassa status on the SRD website for the exact payment date.
Sassa reminds grant recipients that it takes around 2-3 working days for their funds to reflect in the beneficiaries’ account after the payment has been processed.
Collecting Sassa Grants
Sassa advises beneficiaries not to rush withdrawals on the first available day, emphasising that the money remains in their accounts until needed.
Beneficiaries can collect grants through bank accounts, retail outlets, mobile cash pay points, and Sassa Gold Cards, which have extended validity.
