Now that we are at the end of the month of June, it’s important to plan for the month of July. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) makes Sassa grant payments to over 18 million South Africans receiving permanent social grants.
Sassa is responsible for the payment of several different permanent grants aimed at assisting financially vulnerable people living in South Africa. These include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
Sassa Grant Payment Dates For July
Sassa has confirmed that social grant payments are made from the second working day of each month. Sassa payment dates will however not be held on public holidays or weekends.
The Sassa grant payment schedule for July 2024 is as follows:
- Older Persons Grant – 2 July
- Disability Grant – 3 July
- Child Grant – 4 July
Sassa has said that there is no need to rush to withdraw the Sassa money on the first day because once the money is paid, it will remain in your bank account.

Where To Collect Your July Sassa Grant
Sassa beneficiaries can choose to have their Sassa grant be paid directly to their bank account.
Sassa grant beneficiaries can also collect their Sassa social grants at several payment points. These payment points include ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.

- Older Persons (75 years and older) – R2,200
- Disability grant – R2,180

- Foster Care grant – R1,180

- Child Support grant (Top-up) – R530 + R250
- SRD Grant – R370
For the 2024/2025 financial year, the government’s planned expenditure on grants includes R107 billion for the old-age grant, R89.0 billion for social security funds, R85.8 billion for the child support grant, R73.4 billion for other grants, R22.0 billion for provincial social development, and R10.1 billion for policy oversight and grant administration.
