Sassa’s social grants are paid every month to millions of South Africans who depend on them. A grant payment schedule determines when grants will be paid out.
April Sassa Grant Payments Continue
On Monday, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) began processing social grant payments, beginning with the older person’s grant.Beneficiaries will be able to withdraw grant payments when needed from their social grant accounts.
ATMs are available at select retailers such as Shoprite Checkers, U-Save, Pick n Pay, and Boxer. Sassa Gold card holders can also visit their nearest Post Office branch.
Sassa will then process all other social grant payments throughout the week as follows
Sassa grant payment schedule for April:
- Older Person Grant – 3 April
- Disability Grant – 4 April
- Children’s Grant (and all other grants) – 5 April
The R350 grant does not have a specific payment date, so these dates do not apply to that grant. Once Sassa processes applications and payments, payments are made.
The R350 grant still benefits roughly 8 million people, while Sassa pays all other social grants to over 18 million people. Grant recipients include the elderly, people with disabilities, war veterans, children, and those in need
In terms of operational capacity to facilitate social grant payments on schedule, Sassa has approximately 8 000 staff members, 9 regional offices and 46 district offices, 389 local offices and 1 163 service points, according to Busisiwe Memela-Khambula, the agency’s chief executive officer.
Sassa has admitted processing the R350 grant hasn’t been without its challenges, including load shedding and vandalism of the agency’s technical equipment.
