Check when your SASSA grant will be paid – payment dates for 2023
Each month, more than 16 million South African residents receive various types of social grants from the South African government. These grants are disbursed by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), to people who do not have the financial means to support themselves.
If your application has been approved for the Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, or Children’s Grant, you may be wondering when you will receive your grant payment. Below you will find a list of the payment dates for these 3 particular grants (other types of social grants are paid shortly after these grants).
Grant holders may collect their money any time after the payment date (the money will still be there, even if you do not draw it out on the exact payment date).
MARCH 2023 SASSA GRANT PAYMENT DATES
- The Older Persons Grant (as well as any grants linked to these accounts) will be paid on 2 March 2023.
- The Disability Grant (as well as any grants linked to these accounts) will be paid on 3 March 2023.
- All other grants (Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant, Care Dependency Grant, War Veterans Grant) will be paid on 6 March 2023.
The SRD grant will be paid as and when applications are approved.
APRIL 2023 SASSA GRANT PAYMENT DATES

MAY 2023 SASSA GRANT PAYMENT DATES

GRANT PAYMENT METHODS
- Any bank ATM, using your SASSA gold card
- Collection points, which include Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, Boxer, and USave stores
If you want to avoid the long queues on payment dates, you should wait a few days to collect your grant money – this will save you hours of time waiting in line to receive your funds.
SASSA GOLD CARD
The SASSA gold card works like any regular bank card – you are able to draw money at an ATM and use your card at a till point. Grant holders should create a PIN for their gold card, to ensure their funds cannot be withdrawn if the card is lost or stolen.
After SASSA social grants are paid each month, they remain on your SASSA gold card until you are ready to use the funds
