SASSA grants recipients with SASSA Gold Cards expiring in March 2023 called to go and collect new cards at Post Office branches
Postbank and SASSA call on social grants recipients using the SASSA/Postbank Cards that are expiring in March 2023 (03/2023) to go and collect their new SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards at their nearest Post Office branch starting from Monday 13 March 2023.
Social grants recipients are urged to take note that only people with SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards expiring in March 2023 must come collect new cards at the South African Post Office. Grants recipients carrying cards that are not expiring during March are discouraged from making attempts to collect new cards at the Post Office during this month.
SASSA and Postbank will issue a public announcement regarding the dates and processes for the collection of SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards that expire in further months. Grants recipients having SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards expiring in further months should not be concerned because they will continue to receive their social grants monies into those cards as they remain valid.
Mondays and Tuesdays, starting from Monday 13 March 2023, will be dedicated to the issuance of the cards to the Old Age Grants recipients and persons that receive Disability Grants.
Wednesday to Saturday, starting from Wednesday 15 March 2023, will be dedicated to the collection of new SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards to recipients whose cards expire in March 2023 at any Post Offices branch nationwide by persons receiving Child Support Grants and persons receiving all other grants.
Social grants recipients must bring along the following to any nearby Post Office branch to collect their new SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards:
• A South African Identity Document and
• The current SASSA/Postbank Gold Card that is expiring in March 2023 (03/2023).
Post Office branch staff will assist grants recipients to activate the new cards, select a new PIN and the cards will operate immediately to make withdrawals or any other type of transactions.
New SASSA/Postbank Gold cards will only be issued at Post Offices to the person in whose name the expiring card has been issued. No person will be able to collect a SASSA/Postbank Gold Card on behalf of another, unless they are registered with SASSA as a procurator.

Saturday: 09H00 – 13H00
For SASSA grants recipients that have lost or misplaced their SASSA/Postbank card expiring in March 2023
Grants recipients that have lost or misplaced their SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards expiring in March 2023 (03/2023) must also go to a nearby Post Office branches to collect their new SASSA/Postbank Gold cards. Post Office branch personnel will use fingerprint verification to issue the beneficiary with a new SASSA/Postbank Gold Card.
Grants recipients are reminded that only people that have SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards that expire in March 2023 (03/2023) are required to visit the Post Office branches to collect new cards during this month.

The following payment dates have been scheduled for April 2023:
- Older Persons Grant – Tuesday, 4th April 2023 (04/04/2023) All other Grants linked to the Older Persons account will also be paid on the same day.
- Disability Grants – Wednesday, 5th April 2023 (05/04/2023) All other grants linked to the Disability account will also be paid on the same day.
- Child Support Grant and others – Thursday, 6th April 2023 (06/04/2023)
It is important to note that the SRD R350 grants do not have scheduled payment dates. This means that beneficiaries of this grant will receive their payments on different days throughout the month, depending on when their applications were approved.
