Recently, the South African Post Office (Sapo) had an outage that has negatively affected a number of services rendered in its centres across the country.
Since the South African Postbank had been unbundled from Sapo to form a stand-alone state-owned bank, it has been offering transactional and savings accounts to millions of South Africans.
The bank has announced that the ability to access these services has been affected due to a technical issue that has occurred at one of its data centres.
South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) clients who ordinarily access their funds via the South African Postbank, won’t be able to access their funds through the bank’s channels at the moment.
In a statement, the Postbank explained:
“Unfortunately, the impact of the outage affects access to services across many of our channels including ATMs, retail merchants, and in-branch transactions. “
It has been reported that Postbank has issued an apology to its clients for the inconvenience caused by this technical issue. The bank has confirmed that is is working hard to resolve the matter at hand, it has also shared that it will communicate the expected time to resolve the technical challenges to its clients.
Power utility, Eskom has given a warning of Stage 3 or higher of loadshedding. This comes after the high demand for electricity led to power outages across the country.
