If you are one of the approximately 7 million people who relies on the SASSA SRD grant of R350 to fund your most basic living expenses, you will be happy to know that the SRD grant has been extended to 31 March 2024. The South African government has set aside R36 billion of its budget to fund the extension of the COVID-19 social relief of distress grant.
This was announced by the Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, in the 2023 budget speech, on 22 February 2023.
