Millions of vulnerable people rely on Sassa grants to purchase basic goods every month. Will Sassa be making grant payments before Christmas?

Many people have been wondering whether Sassa grant payments will be made before Christmas. Sassa has made it clear that grant payments are not made on weekends and Public Holidays.

To clarify this further, we would need to look at the Sassa grant payment dates.

  • Older Persons Grant – 3 January 2024
  • Disability Grants – 4 January 2024
  • Children’s Grants –  5 January 2024

Sassa distributes grants in terms of the Social Assistance Act. Under the framework of the act, Sassa oversees the implementation of various social assistance programs. This includes the distribution of social grants to vulnerable people living in South Africa.

It is very efficient and easy for you if your Sassa grant can be paid into your bank account. Remember that the bank account must be in your name as Sassa cannot pay the grant into a bank account that is in someone else’s name.

It doesn’t affect the payment dates of the Sassa grants if they are paid into your bank account instead of you collecting them from a Sassa office.
